===== What is the intention of this? =====
The Retro Gentlemen's Code of Conduct (RGCC from hereon) provides an safe harbor to enable retro game lovers to play, archive and pass on their favorite games to next generations.

Remake/Remaster/Re-Releases often can be simply bought in stores, the real thing, the authentic experience of the original console is usually unavailable and sometimes, it isn't even known which company is holding the rights to this IP and/or simply has no interest to care about it.

Together, gamer and game company, prevent these games of getting lost and enable player to enjoy the authentic experience without all the graphics upgrades, without all the quality of live features, without an consumer friendly access to them.
===== Why would IP Holders want to Engage? =====
The retro gaming community does _not_ want to harm the gaming industry. We do not want to cause any damage. We want to enjoy the games, protect them from getting lost and pass them on to the next generation. We care about the original and authentic experience on modern devices.
===== What is the actual code of conduct =====
We, the retro gaming community, promise the following things
  - We are only emulating systems that are >=25 years old. Currently this means we emulate up until
    - SEGA Dreamcast
    - SONY PlayStation 2
    - Nintendo Gamecube
    - NEC PC-FX
    - Windows 9.x
  - We only play/archive/host official published ROM that have been released for these consoles
    - No Remakes/Remasters/Re-Releases, only the real thing
  - If an re-release can be bought, we buy/support it
  - We do not try to make the process of emulation too easy
    - We do not develop/support Hardware that comes with emulators/ROM pre-installed
    - We do not develop/support Software that comes with emulators/ROM pre-installed
    - We do not make money with retro games
      - No reselling of Emulator/ROM
      - No payed services for installing/setting up emulator/ROM
      - Developed Software must be GNU GPL-compatible
  - We play the games in their original form with highest accuracy
    - No Upscaling
    - No Texture Replacement
    - Adding Quality of Life features such as automappers and such 
  - We commit to maintaining open dialogue and strict adherence to the RGCC
===== Our Request to IP Holders =====
We request that companies adopt a public Policy of Non-Enforcement (Safe Harbor) for individuals and platforms that strictly adhere to the RGCC principles for systems >=25 years old (gamer, archiver, emulator developer, and hoster).
